The Utica Redskins  went 3-1 last week, beating Newark Catholic, Licking Valley and Northridge to put them above the .500 mark at 11-10.

Utica started the week with a walk-off 4-3 win over Newark Catholic on April 29, where Gaige Spray hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

While the Green Wave had a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, the Redskins scored a pair to tie the game when Aidyn Burgess scored on a ground out and Spray scored on an error.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gavin Chinn reached on an error, and Chase Bennett followed with a bunt single. After an out, Roman Gamble was intentionally walked to lead the bases. After a fielder’s choice at home, Spray came up to bat and drilled a grounder to left scoring Bennett to win the game.

Bennett went six innings, allowing two earned runs and five hits, while striking out five. Jarrett Hill came in for the last inning of relief to get the win, allowing only a walk.

After falling 4-3 to Marysville the next day, they beat Licking Valley 5-3 on the road, led by Burgess’s two RBI day. He was 2-for-3 in the win.

Gambled pitched a complete game, allowing three runs but one earned, and six hits, while striking out four.

Utica finished the week with an 11-5 win at Northridge, and Burgess was the star again with three RBIs.

Burgess finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Chinn was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a double. Isaak Wogan was 2-for-4 with a double, and Gavin Tussey went 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs.
