Mount Vernon Nazarene University is seeking qualified instructors for various course assignments on the main campus in Mount Vernon. Evangelical Christian confession of faith and experience required. Prior teaching experience and strong communication skills are preferred. The teaching fields and qualifications include:
Biology - graduate degree required in biology or human anatomy to teach introductory biology, conservation of natural resources or human anatomy with laboratories sequence. A master’s degree in biology or closely related field is required; a doctoral degree in biology or closely related field is preferred.
Chemistry - bachelor’s degree in science to teach introductory chemistry laboratories; graduate degree required in chemistry or closely related field to teach physical chemistry. A possibility exists for a doctorally-prepared candidate to teach an upper division physical chemistry with laboratory course.
Drama - graduate degree or professional experience to teach technical theater course.
Nursing - graduate degree required in nursing to teach assorted nursing courses, supervise clinical experiences, or supervise nursing laboratory experiences.
Physics - graduate degree required in physics or closely related field to teach introductory physics and laboratory sequence, modern physics and/or physical chemistry.
Spanish - graduate degree preferred in Spanish or Spanish education (bachelor’s degree considered) to teach assorted classes in Spanish language and literature.
Video Communication - graduate degree or professional experience to teach a variety of video communication and production courses.
The starting date for these positions is September 1, 2008, with specific class times to be arranged during the fall semester from September through May, 2009.
