FREDERICKTOWN — Nearly 150 weightlifters, from 13 teams, arrived in Fredericktown on Saturday with ambitions of pushing their muscles to work to their utmost limits. However, three local teams dominated a day of hang (power) cleans, squats and bench presses. Twelve records were recording during the meet.
Fredericktown took first place at the end of the day with 9,200 team pounds. Clear Fork took second place with 8,515 pounds, and Mount Vernon finished close behind with 8,340 pounds for the third-place trophy.
Team scores were accumulated by adding the four best totals in the lightweight (125-, 135-, 145- and 155-pound classes), middleweight (165-, 175-, 185- and 195-pound classes) and heavyweight (210-, 225-, 250- and unlimited weight classes) divisions.
Awards were handed out to the top six finishers in each weight class. They were as follows:
125-pound class — First place, Nick Henwood, Clear Fork, 515 pounds; second place, Seth Robinson, Fredericktown, 475 pounds; third place, Clayton Sante, Mansfield Senior, 440 pounds; Dylan Pauley, Mount Vernon, 425 pounds; Jay Baldridge, Lucas, 255 pounds.
135-pound class — First place, Justin Wilt, Mount Vernon, 590 pounds; second place, Alex Park, Central, 585 pounds; third place, Darius Byrd, Columbus South, 515 pounds; fourth place, Logan Smith, Fredericktown, 485 pounds; fifth place, Nash Cunningham, Fredericktown, 465 pounds; sixth place, Taylor Natola, Fredericktown, 465 pounds.
Natola tied the meet record with a 190-pound lift on the bench.
Other local lifters in the 135-pound class were Burk Hammond, Danville, 350 pounds; and Jason Davis, Fredericktown, 310 pounds.
145-pound class — First place, Reno Bucci, Clear Fork, 730 pounds; second place, Tyler Hathaway, Fredericktown, 675 pounds; third place, Tyler Streby, Fredericktown, 615 pounds; fourth place, Jake Smith, Mount Vernon, 610 pounds; fifth place, Jim Shinaberry, Fredericktown, 545 pounds; sixth place, Alex Sauder, Lucas, 545 pounds.
Bucci set a meet record with a 255-pound lift on the bench.

Lybarger set two records on his way to the top of his weight class with a 380-pound squat and a 235-pound clean.

Tyler Fielding of Centerburg had a meet total of 465 pounds, and Adam O’Bryan, Mount Vernon finished with 425 pounds to round out the weight class.

Irvin benched an impressive 340 pounds on the bench to set a meet record.
Mount Vernon’s Mark Lawson lifted a total of 655 pounds and Fredericktown’s Nathan Hoeflick tallied 565 pounds with teammate C.J. Collins finishing with 435 pounds.

The Fredericktown team added two more lifters to the unlimited weight class as Josh Hernandez finished with a total of 705 pounds and Wes Geiger lifted a total of 590 pounds.
