  • Colts celebrate Homecoming with win over Madison

BELLVILLE — Jordan McCune and Eric Kline each scored three touchdowns for Clear Fork on Friday night in the Colts’ 55-13 thrashing of Mansfield Madison.

McCune ran only seven times for the game, but gained 123 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. His other score came on the opening kickoff, an 89-yard TD return, which gave Clear Fork a 7-0 lead. The Colts defense, which allowed only 93 yards and forced five turnovers, got the ball back soon after, and Kline caught a 25-yard touchdown throw from Travis Hissong with 10:13 to play in the quarter to put Clear Fork up, 14-0.

The Colts scored 27 points in the second quarter alone, starting with Cole Pollard’s 65-yard interception return with 11:47 left in the half. The Rams sustained their only drive of the game, resulting in Cody Thompson’s 2-yard TD run with 9:27 to play to cut the lead to 21-7.

Clear Fork scored in a 24-second space later in the period, as McCune scored on a 7-yard run with 5:27 left. After a turnover, Kline raced in from 46-yards out at the 5:03 mark to give the Colts a 34-7 advantage. Madison scored the third touchdown in less than a minute on Casey Benevides’ 84-yard kickoff return to cut the lead to 34-13, but Hissong found Jake Dickerson with a 5-yard touchdown toss with 2:46 to give Clear Fork a 41-13 halftime lead.

The Colts’ defense continued to hold the Rams down in the second half, and the offense scored two final touchdowns in the third quarter. McCune had a 28-yard scoring run with 4:57 to play in the quarter, and Kline darted in from 12 yards out with 1:58 left in the period.

Hissong was 4-of-12 for 51 yards and two touchdowns on a wet night, and Dickerson caught two passes fo 22 yards.
