CENTERBURG — Centerburg had upside on its mind on Friday night, but a missed extra-point left them trailing Utica, who held on for a 14-13 win.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jason Hoar found Scott Cline for a 31-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to put the Redskins up, 6-0. The Trojans responded on their next drive, which finished on Josh Michael’s 48-yard reception from Drew Osborne, which gave Centerburg a 7-6 lead. Hoar, who has nearly 2,000 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards for the season, stepped up for Utica, taking off for a 70-yard touchdown run late in the half. Hoar also hooked up with Austin Brown on a 2-point conversion pass to give the Redskins a 14-7 lead at the half.
Osborne threw his second touchdown pass of the game in the third quarter, hitting T.T. Thompson for a 49-yard score. The kick failed, leaving the Trojans behind, 14-13.
