  • Bevington honored for promoting high school athletics

  • March 15, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon broadcaster Dave Bevington was honored Saturday in Columbus for his long support of school sports in the region.

The Central District of the Ohio High School Athletic Association presented an award to Bevington for his promotion and continued coverage of high school athletics. Bevington’s broadcasts can be heard on WMVO, AM 1300.

“The recognition should really go to all the high school administrators, coaches and players who make it all possible,” Bevington said.

He said that he was honored to be given the award, but that he was also just doing what he has always done, and what he will always continue to do.

Bevington has been broadcasting in Mount Vernon since 1971. His popular “Sports Roundtable” program features conversations with coaches and players who call into the live broadcast.

Saturday’s award is the second time Bevington received the honor, given annually to honor broadcast or print media coverage of high school sports in Ohio.
