  • Clear Fork sweeps Freddie Invitational

  • May 1, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — The Clear Fork Colts put on another impressive performance on Friday night at the Fredericktown Invitational. Coming off a sweep at the Yellow Jacket Relays, the Colts did it again in Fredericktown, winning both the boys and girls titles.

The Clear Fork boys held off Fredericktown and East Knox (154.5 points, 151 and 144, respectively) for the team title. Clear Fork had five first-place finishes in the win, including two from Isaac Ute (shot put and discus).

“I’m extremely happy; I’m ecstatic right now,” said Clear Fork boys coach Brandon Baumgardner. “We got off to a great start in our field events, and had a huge lead coming into the track events. That was the difference. We also got some key performances out of some of our running guys.”

The Clear Fork girls had a little easier time with the competition, winning with 171.5 points. Johnstown took second with 143 points, and Fredericktown came in third with 125 points. The Colts won eight events on the night.

“This is great,” said Clear Fork girls coach Judy Golden. “The girls were in good shape. We gave them Wednesday off to rest, and we got good weather today. This was exciting.”
