  • May 5, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon High School boys volleyball team honored its seven seniors on Tuesday night. Following the ceremony, those same seniors proved why they can be considered among the best to ever play at Mount Vernon.

The Jackets rolled to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 victory over Pickerington North, Tuesday at The Hive. The win clinched the Ohio Capital Conference title for the Jackets (18-2 overall, 9-0 OCC), their fourth straight title. With one game remaining, these seniors have not lost a league game in their four years of high school.

“This is a great group of young men. It’s been a blessing coaching them,” Mount Vernon coach Alan Cassell said during the ceremony honoring the seniors and their parents.

The Jackets struggled to find their rhythm early, but a 7-1 run midway through the first game helped them set things straight as they cruised to the victory.
