  • Pacemakers kicks off 2010 season

  • May 17, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — The best family entertainment bargain in Knox County is back in 2010.

Pacemakers Dragway Park, which opened earlier this month, got things going in earnest on Friday and Saturday with a big weekend of racing and a bigger promise of a fun racing season ahead.

The 2010 E.T. Points program will begin on May 29 and 30, with two days of racing, and the final points race is scheduled for Oct. 2. In between, there will be many special races, including the Sharx Quick 32 Series, sponsored by Sharx Design.

“We’ll have Sharx Design as a new sponsor this year,” said track operator Mike Fouts. “Rod Zolman owns them. They’ll be sponsoring the Quick 32 series that will run from July through October.”

Also on the schedule this season are the Mid-Ohio Ford Club, the “Hot August Night” Super Charged Thunder, the Junior Dragster series and the annual Halloween Race.

Obviously, the recession has hurt everyone but things are looking better for the historic track.
