  • Edwards at heart of Jacket offense

  • May 26, 2010 · 1:03 pm

MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon High School baseball team has hitters throughout its lineup. It has showed an offensive prowess this season, matched by very few.

At the heart of the Yellow Jackets’ attack has been senior Justin Edwards. Edwards is batting .530 (44-for-83) on the season, and continues to be the cog that powers the Jackets’ wheel. Edwards has hit 12 doubles, scored 32 runs and drove in 30.

After going 2-for-3 in the District Semifinal and Final games, Edwards has showed no signs of slowing down.

“I’m hitting the ball solid, and it is getting through,” said Edwards. “It is see ball, hit ball, really. There is no secret about it.”
