SPARTA — The Highland High School softball team is heading into uncharted waters.
But, like any good explorer, there’s no fear of the unknown.
The Scots will participate in their first regional tournament in school history when they take on Casstown Miami East in the Division III Regional Semifinal, Thursday, at 5 p.m. at Wright State University in Dayton.
“This is a point where we know it’s win or be done and we don’t want it to end,” said Highland coach Enid Claxon. “We’re very excited, obviously, a little nervous. But, I think it’s a great day in general.”
The Scots (20-9) are riding high entering the regional tournament. They rallied for two straight victories to grab their first district title, scoring three in the sixth inning to beat Columbus Bishop Ready and then twice in the seventh inning to beat Northridge for the title.
