  • Freddies’ 4x800 hoping for continued success

  • June 3, 2010 · 10:17 am

FREDERICKTOWN — When the Fredericktown Freddies’ foursome in the 4x800-meter relay arrive at Jesse Owens Stadium this weekend for the 2010 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships, it will be bringing a boatload of experience.

The quartet of Delaney McGuire, Jamison Shipley, Sean Kennedy and Isaac Potes have put in many miles together. This past fall, they were part of the Freddies’ state-placing cross country team.

“This is a neat group,” said Fredericktown coach Bob Geiger of the sixth Fredericktown 4x800 team in the last decade to gain a state berth. “It’s the fastest group. They kind of build upon it. It’s an expectation of the guys that have run before, so these guys have put in their time.”

Now, they’ll finish off the year with another trip to Columbus, going for a spot on the podium. For two of them, it will be their last shot as seniors.
