HOWARD — The East Knox Bulldogs soccer team (10-6-1) pulled off its first tournament win in school history on Wednesday night, defeating the Heath Bulldogs for the second time this season, 2-0.
A pair of goals by Jay Green, along with an airtight defense, helped lift East Knox to a landmark win.
It was a slow start for East Knox, who was fighting off Heath in its own zone for most of the first half. East Knox started to spring to life with about 3:30 to play in the half. It was soon after that when Jay Green took an angle shot from the left side, about 30 yards out, which wound up in the net to give the host Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage.
“In the back of my head (that shot) was about 50-50,” said Green. “Fifty (percent) is the shot and fifty (percent) is what the keeper is going to do. It felt like that was the right one.”
