FREDERICKTOWN — Anybody who thought that the Fredericktown Freddies were going to ease off the accelerator in its drive to the Mid-Buckeye Conference championship were in for a rude awakening on Friday.
The undefeated Freddies put a great, big exclamation point on their march to their second straight MBC crown to the tune of a 66-0 shellacking of the visiting Centerburg Trojans.
The Freddies, who are big and physical up front, pounded holes in the Centerburg defense. They allowed Austin Hoeflich to explode for an 89 yard run to put the Freddies ahead with little more than three minutes burned off the game clock. Fredericktown quarterback Tyler Hathaway tossed a pass to Austin Updike to complete the 2-point conversion and give the Freddies an 8-0 lead.
“We got the ball and everybody executed and then it was off to the races,” said Hoeflich.
