  • Utica ends season on high note, crushes Centerburg

  • October 30, 2010 3:13 am EDT

UTICA — The Utica Redskins (6-4, 5-2 MBC) had only one thing in mind on Friday night: Finish the 2010 season in style and send their senior class out on a high note. That’s exactly what they did.

The host Redskins dominated both sides of the ball to get the win over the visiting Centerburg Trojans, 47-0, in their Mid-Buckeye Conference season finale.

“The season didn’t happen like we had hoped,” said Utica coach Randy Felumlee. “Our goal was that, when they went out, they would play one of the better games they have had in their careers and have a great, enjoyable game to finish the year. I was real happy that was able to happen.”

It was the realization of a dream the Felumlee has had for two years — to put together a consistent running game. The Redskins rolled up an incredible 310 yards on the ground with quarterback Jason Hoar (nine carries, 74 yards), Travis Baldwin (three carries, 72 yards) and Clay Rowley (three carries for 71 yards) leading the way.
