UTICA — It was a stellar start for the Utica Redskins.
The finish, however, was simply brutal.
The Jonathan Alder Pioneers shut out the Redskins in the final quarter to run away with a 41-29 victory in non-league action on Tuesday.
The Redskins jumped out to a 10-0 lead en route to 15-4 first quarter advantage, buoyed by a pair of 3-pointers by Nate Wyscarver (10 points). Utica’s fast-moving offense and great passing left the Pioneers flat-footed at times.
“We knew they were going to be a good team,” said Utica coach Eric Sheck. “They had a lot of kids back and they had a lot of wins last year. Our kids did everything that we asked them in all four quarters. It just so happened that, in the fourth quarter, we just didn’t put the ball in the hole.”
