SPARTA — The visiting Centerburg Trojans, already off to a great start this season, scored a 54-24 win over the host Highland Scots in their quad match on Wednesday night.
The Trojans scored eight pins against their backyard rivals in another strong showing. Coming up with pins for the Trojans were: Thomas Thatcher (125 pounds), Jacob Grandstaff (135), Sean Gibson (140), Jimmy Alexander (145), Rhett Hensel (152), Justin Keys (171), Cody Eilbacher (189) and heavyweight Nick Thissen.
Coming on the heels of last weekend’s third place finish at the Granville Invitational, the Trojans have a lot to smile about so far this season.
“We’ve got a good mix,” said Centerbug coach Mike Linkenhoker, who may have his strongest team in the four years he has been in charge of the Trojans. “We’ve got about six or seven freshmen, who have had a few years of wrestling experience in junior high. Some of them have got four or five years under their belt because of the youth program. Four freshmen, five seniors and the rest are juniors and sophomores.”
