FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown High School announced it has hired Rusty Staab as its new varsity baseball coach.

Staab replaces Matt Smith, who accepted the same position at Mount Vernon.

Staab is a junior high phyical education and health teacher at Clear Fork, where he has spent the past 18 years. He will continue to teach there while coaching the Freddies.

A teacher since 1983, Staab graduated from Xavier University with a B.S.Ed. in P.E. and Health.

Last year, Fredericktown went 22-5 for the season, 14-0 in conference play, gaining a top seed in the Division III Central District sectionals and landing four players on the First Team All-MBC list.
