DANVILLE — It was a classic pitcher’s duel, despite the fact that one of the players on the mound hasn’t been a pitcher for much of his career.

The Danville Blue Devils baseball team managed just three hits on Monday. But one of them drove in the only run of the game to give the Devils a 1-0 victory, thanks to the baserunning of Nate Zuene, the RBI single by Casey Sloan and the superb pitching of Brandon Crawford.

“I can’t say enough about Crawford,” said Danville head coach Brian Bratton. “He came out and pitched a great game.”

Crawford started the season at catcher. Coach Bratton moved him around throughout the season before recently putting him on the mound.
