BEXLEY — Five-time defending district champion Danville starts the 2011 softball postseason on the road. The Blue Devils will play at Madison Christian on Tuesday, May 10.
The two teams faced off in the sectional final last year, with Danville getting the upper hand, 18-0.
“We’re familiar with them,” Danville head coach Maryellen Matheny said. “We’ve played them before. I know they’re seeded higher, but I really feel we’re the better team.”
Matheny spoke like the coach of a team that has won the last five district titles. In order to make it six, the Blue Devils will have to win on the road and at home against two higher-seeded teams. Thursday’s sectional final will be against either Grove City Christian or Fairfield Christian.
