UTICA — The Utica Redskins exploded for nine runs and eight hits in the bottom of the fourth inning on their way to a 15-3 shellacking of the visiting Grandview Heights Bobcats in their Division III sectional semifinal softball matchup on Monday.

It was a terrific display of aggressive base running and timely hitting by the Redskins, who will move on to the sectional final at River Valley.

“I think we hit the ball well,” said Utica head coach Kayla Shomaker. “I had some kids step up and get some good hits. We got a good game out of Emily Hoar, pitching on the mound, too.”
