COLUMBUS — There will be no Day 2 in the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships for Centerburg.

But the Trojans were there for Day 1. And they were proud of what they did.

Stephen Vogel ran in Friday morning’s first heat of the boys 110-meter hurdles event. Although he finished seventh in the heat and 14th overall, he was proud to be there.

“I feel like I could have run faster,” said Vogel, whose time of 15.84 fell a half-second shy of his qualifying time. “I was pretty disappointed for awhile.

“Then, I saw the times of the others,” Vogel continued. “I realized that, had I run my PR, I still wouldn’t have made it (to finals). So I’m proud of what I’ve done.”
