DANVILLE — The annual Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run has become a Danville tradition every Father’s Day weekend.

It has also become an important first race during the summer training season for many cross country runners and their coaches. The two-laps cover a stretch of the Mohican Valley Trail, rutted with Amish buggy tracks, gravel and mud patches. There is one gentle slope and stretches of asphalt road as well.

For the Geiger family, the seventh annual running of the Turkey Trot was just another way to celebrate Father’s Day.
