MOUNT VERNON — It may not be the prettiest win of the year, but it may be one of the biggest. The Knox County Royals of American Legion Post 92 (16-4-1) appeared to be beaten, falling behind 6-0 to Marysville Post 79 (22-8) in the third inning of Tuesday evening’s game at Mount Vernon High School.

The Royals fought their way back, winning 9-8 on a game-winning RBI by winning pitcher Ethan Abell, who gave up a hit and struck out four in the final two innings.

Abell had relieved starting pitcher Eric Ashbrook who left the mound with the team behind; however, Ashbrook kept Marysville in check just enough to set up the comeback.
