MOUNT VERNON — Things started out a little wobbly, but the boys in black came right back.

The Mount Vernon 12-year-old All-Stars needed a trio of pitchers to hold visiting North Fork to five hits, winning 8-4 in their Little League Fifth District All-Star Tournament matchup at Phillips Park on Sunday afternoon.

Mount Vernon allowed just one run from a bases loaded jam in the first inning. North Fork centerfielder Nate Eichner, who reached on an error, scored when he was forced home on a walk to first baseman Jake Heckman.
