SPARTA — The offense continued scoring, the defense continued clicking and the pitching continued its dominance on Sunday as the Knox County Royals Utica Post 92 baseball team pounded Marysville Post 79, 10-5, in the second round of the district tournament.

The offense, which has been a highlight of the Royals all season long, was on again. Kody Green led the way with three hits and four RBIs, while Billy Jackson had three hits with two RBIs. Nick Mazgay, Robert Kane, Kenny Rucker and Justin Edwards added two hits apiece.

“I’ve got confidence in each of the nine guys we put out there, offensively,” said Utica head coach Mike King. “I have a lot of guys contributing. ... To win district, you have to have the mentality of a team. And that’s what I have, all the guys are focusing on the same goal.”
