HOWARD — For the second time this season, the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets golf team finished in second place in an Ohio Capital Conference tournament.
The Jackets finished with a score of 326 at Monday’s tournament at Apple Valley. Only New Albany (312) fared better.
Mount Vernon beat third-place Olentangy Orange by eight strokes (334) and Big Walnut by 10 (336).
Watkins Memorial (345), Hilliard Bradley (347), Delaware Hayes (392) and Franklin Heights (475) round out the teams.
“We’ve improving,” said Mount Vernon golf coach Mike Fuller. “Last time, (New Albany) beat us by 30 shots. Today, it was 14. We’re closing the gap a little bit. We just want to keep improving, and peek at the sectionals and districts, and give ourselves a chance to advance.”
