CENTERBURG — Hosting its own tournament, the Centerburg golf team had its sights set high Monday.

Unfortunately for the Trojans, Mount Gilead had other things in mind.

The Indians fired a 342 to win the Centerburg Invitational at Table Rock Golf Course. Johnstown finished second at 347, with the Trojans close behind at 350. Heath came in fourth (360), followed by Utica (362), Danville (371), Centerburg B (409) and East Knox (409).

“We’re young, so we’re going to have our ups and downs,” said Centerburg coach Nate Altizer. “Unfortunately, today we were down. It would have been nice to win our own tournament on our home course, but we were still third.”
