SPARTA — The Highland football team knew coming into Friday’s game, North Union would bring in a physical team. They weren’t quite prepared for the repeated roundhouse punches to the jaw, though.
The Wildcats, behind a big, strong offensive line, pounded Highland early and often, cruising to a 55-0 victory in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
“It seemed like our whole approach to the game was not what it needed to be,” said Highland coach Chad Carpenter. “Their kids (North Union) played extremely hard and took us out of everything we wanted to do. Basically, they dominated us in every aspect.”
Highland (0-2 overall, 0-1 MOAC) didn’t have an answer for the Wildcats’ offense all night, forcing just one punt, and that was on the last drive after the starters from both teams had been pulled.
