UTICA — The East Knox Bulldogs (4-2, 2-2 MBC) went down to Utica (4-3, 3-1 MBC) on Tuesday and pulled out a hard-fought win, taking three games out of four against a very tough Redskins team (19-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-22) and dealing Utica its first Mid-Buckeye Conference loss this season.
“I knew, coming into this season, that Utica has really stepped it up,” said East Knox coach Brooke Doup. “Each year, they work hard. I knew, coming here, if we could chip away a point at a time, we could get to them — and we have. It’s a good feeling.”
The Redskins broke out on top in the first game, finishing off the Bulldogs with a 12-5 run. In the second game, the Bulldogs took a 14-8 lead only to see it slip away. The Redskins went on a 12-1 rampage with Sarah Bandy (31 assists, 13 digs) and libero Erin Rodgers (21 digs, three aces) serving. Rachael Londot (20 kills, four blocks, 14 digs) scored several times during their run.
