UTICA — It started out like a brawl. It ended in a rout.
The Utica Redskins (5-3, 4-1 MBC) finally threw off their case of the mid-week blahs in a big way, cruising to a 29-31, 26-24, 25-9, 25-11 win over the visiting Northridge Vikings (2-4, 2-4 MBC) in Mid-Buckeye Conference girls volleyball action on Thursday.
The Vikings, who recently defeated East Knox, came out strong at the start, grabbing a 12-8 lead in Game 1. The Redskins, who lost to that same East Knox team on Wednesday, thought they might be in for more of the same.
“Northridge came ready to play and we knew they would,” said Utica coach Laurie Londot. “We knew that, if we kept pushing, we could get to them.”
