SPARTA — The Highland volleyball team has found success this year when its back row plays well.
The Scots have plenty of talent up front, but need solid play from its back row to get the ball to its hitters.
Thursday, the Scots found out what happens when the back row struggles, falling to Elgin 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 30-28 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action at Highland.
The Scots (10-4 overall, 4-2 MOAC) played well in the first game, using a 4-1 run to end with the victory.
But, right from the start of the second game, things turned sour for the Scots.
Elgin (6-4, 5-2) scored nine of the first 12 points and rolled to the victory.
The Comets jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game three before winning; then needed a strong finish to end the night in Game 4.
