MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets girls volleyball team came out on the winning end of another thriller.
The Jackets beat Ohio Capital Conference rival Olentangy Orange, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21, at home on Thursday to remain in a first-place tie at the top of the Capital Division.
Mount Vernon began the match in a first-place tie with Big Walnut and Hilliard Bradley with a 6-1 conference record. With both the Eagles and the Jaguars winning their matches on Thursday, the pressure was on Mount Vernon to keep pace in the conference.
Unlike Tuesday’s match, which saw the offense leading the way for the Yellow Jackets, it was the defense which set the pace against Orange.
