FREDERICKTOWN — Danville and Fredericktown have had some memorable football games over the years.
Add one more to the list.
Danville rallied with two scores in the fourth quarter, but a defensive stand by the Freddies on a two-point conversion helped them preserve a 28-26 Mid-Buckeye Conference victory.
“That play was the ball game,” said Fredericktown coach Brian Baum. “I wanted to take a time out and make sure we knew were still in position to win this game — just go out and make the tackle. Our outside linebacker, Curtis Carpenter, did a nice job stepping up and making the play.”
“Our kids did not quit. We’ve been preaching them to keep after it and they did,” said Danville coach Ed Honabarger. “We did everything we had to do, we just didn’t get the two-point conversion. We had ran it down their throat on that drive, so we went with what got us there. Give Fredericktown credit. They stepped up and made the play.”
