MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon girls soccer team left it all on the field Tuesday.

It just wasn’t quite enough as Big Walnut used three second-half goals to beat the Yellow Jackets, 3-0, in Ohio Capital Conference action at Yellow Jacket Stadium.

“We played our hearts out tonight,” said Mount Vernon coach Vit Streska. “I’m very proud of the effort. As a coach, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

The Eagles had several opportunities in the first half, but Mount Vernon goalkeeper Hadleigh Rundell and the Jackets defense was there to keep them out of the net. One shot even ringed off the left post, but the Eagles failed to score.
