SPARTA — It was a performance for the record books.

The Highland Scots (2-6, 2-5 MOAC) spent Friday night making up for a hard-luck season with a Senior Night that was full of superlatives. When it was all over, the Scots had crushed the Ridgedale Rockets, 69-0, in their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.

“Just to come out after the season that we’ve had and play four quarters of football like this is really good to see,” said Highland coach Chad Carpenter. “The kids came out and really responded well. We didn’t make the mistakes that we had made in previous games. They really played a hard game tonight.”

The Scots were in complete control on both sides of the football. Offensively, they tallied 22 first downs with 550 yards on the ground. Hayden Mailey led the way with 27 carries for 269 yards and five touchdowns. That included a 37-yard TD run in the first quarter.
