Johnstown scored eight touchdowns in the first quarter alone on Friday to complete a perfect 10-0 regular season and win the Mid-Buckeye Conference championship, hammering intercity archrival Northridge, 70-0.
The Vikings (3-7, 0-7) kicked off to start the game, and on the first play from scrimmage the Johnnies (10-0, 7-0) scored. Ross Franklin took the ball at the Johnstown 12-yard line, and ripped through the Northridge defense for an 88-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead with only 22 seconds off the clock.
The Johnnies scored on defense at the 10:09 mark, as Stephen Smith picked off a Gavin Kyle pass for a 9-yard touchdown to put his team up, 14-0. Just 15 seconds later, QB Matt Smith ran in from 11 yards out for a 21-0 edge. Smith threw his only pass of the game with 7:48 to play in the quarter, as Franklin hauled in the 33-yard pass for another touchdown and a 28-0 lead.
