COLUMBUS — The Danville Blue Devils will play another day.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released its football computer rankings for the end of the season. Danville finished No. 3 in Region 23, meaning it will host a regional quarterfinal.
The top eight schools in each region qualify for the playoffs, with the top four hosting Round 1 games.
Danville’s opponent on Saturday will be No. 6 seed Bishop Rosecrans. The two teams already played back in Week 2, with the Blue Devils winning, 18-0.
“We know what to expect out of them,” said Danville head coach Ed Honabarger. “At the same time, they know what to expect out of us. They’re going to be able to make adjustments. Usually, you end up facing someone you’ve never seen before, so you do a lot of extra preparing. We have seen each other, so it’ll be easier.
“(Rosecrans) has improved. They only bring about 22, 23 kids. But they play a lot of Division III schools, and play them tough. We have our work cut out for us.”
“This has been a goal for all of us seniors,” said Cody Inverso. “We wanted to get that home playoff game and get that checkered endzone. We’ve been waiting for that.”
Centerburg, the only other school with a mathematical chance going into Week 10, fell short, despite a win over Utica. The Trojans finished 11th in Region 19.
