GAMBIER — It was a tough afternoon on Friday at the Kenyon Athletic Center for the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets swim team.
The Jackets dropped their dual-dual meet to archrival Delaware Hayes and non-conference foe Columbus Academy. However, under the direction of first-year coach Adrienne Amador, they had their sights set on much more lofty goals than winning an early-season meet.
“They did a great job,” said Amador, a former Kenyon College swimmer. “A lot of our people were swimming ‘off-events’ at this meet after swimming in their best events in the first two meets. We were just trying to mix it up a bit and keep people guessing. These are certainly schools that we will see later on in the year.”
The Jackets were led by Gavin Rundell, who placed first in the boys 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.60. Michael Johnson placed fifth in the 100 butterfly.
