DANVILLE — The latest chapter in the Danville-East Knox rivalry saw the Bulldogs coming away with a big road victory.
The East Knox girls basketball team marched into Danville High School and defeated the Blue Devils, 60-49, to stay within a half-game of the lead in the Mid-Buckeye Conference.
East Knox (5-2, 3-1 MBC) won its first game in three tries against its archrival. For Danville (2-4, 1-3 MBC), it meant a fourth straight defeat this season.
The decidedly pro-Bulldog crowd witnessed a tale of two halves for the Bulldogs and the Blue Devils. The first half was discombobulated and without flow of any kind. But the second half saw high scoring and physical play reminiscent of two championship-calibur teams.
East Knox held the lead throughout the first half, though the Bulldogs never pulled away. Both teams were tentative, feeling each other out without being too aggressive under the basket. East Knox, especially, played passively under the rim, as the team had just one offensive rebound in the first half.
