FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown boys basketball team put on a shooting clinic Friday night.

The Freddies were nearly unstoppable offensively, especially in the first half, cruising to a 63-55 Mid-Buckeye Conference victory over visiting Johnstown.

“I think we only missed three shots the entire first half (13 of 16). We came out and shot the ball extremely well,” said Fredericktown coach Mark DeLaney. “The key was the pass that led to the assist. That extra pass the guys made led to a lot of baskets. We finally had a game where we knocked down shots.”

The Freddies (6-3 overall, 3-2 MBC) made three of their first four shots, including two three-pointers from freshman Austin Hathaway to open up an 8-0 lead.

Following a time out, Johnstown (4-5, 3-2) was able to get things going with some offensive penetration, closing the gap to four points. But, the Freddie barrage continued in the second quarter.
