HOWARD — For the East Knox Bulldogs and their fans, it was as bleak as the wind-driven, bitter-cold wintery night.
The Golden Knights of Northmor High School invaded East Knox High School, bursting out to a 17-0 lead and dropping in half a dozen 3-pointers in the first quarter.
Led by Charles Burggraf’s 18 points, Northmor romped over the Bulldogs, 80-51, in nonconference boys basketball action on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (0-11), who found themselves in a 25-9 hole at the end of the first period, had tried to box out in the middle. But the Knights, who landed seven 3-pointers for the game, used their experience to put the Bulldogs away.
“They made the first six before they ever missed one,” said East Knox coach Don McDaniel. “It’s pretty tough when they jump on you like that. When it was 17-0, I knew we were in for a long night.”
