HOWARD — The young Utica Redskins upended the rebuilding East Knox Bulldogs, 45-13, when they met head-on in Wednesday’s Mid Buckeye Conference quad-meet in Howard.

The Bulldogs actually did better in head-to-head matchups than the final score indicated, winning three of their seven matches with the Redskins, The undermanned Bulldogs, however, forfeited four weight classes that they could not fill.

Utica had a pair of pins in the smaller weight classes. Austin Burris defeated East Knox’s Jeremy Fletcher in the 106-pound class at 2:30 of the second period. Dillon Fletcher of Utica took down Robbie McDonald of East Knox to win the 113-pound class at 27 seconds of the second round.

The next three went to the Bulldogs. Noah Phillips outscored Utica’s Austin Parmer in the 126-pound class, 11-1. Cole Enderle (132) pinned Utica’s Joey Pelletier at 3:30 of the second period. Enderle’s teammate Tyler Jacobs (145) defeated Jayson Fuller of the Redskins, 6-0.

The Redskins, however, got two more pins in the end. Kody Smith, wrestling up at 145, took down Sullly Howe of East Knox at 2:12 of the second period. Smith’s teammate, Sheldon Faller (170), stopped Damien Dorsett of East Knox at 2:37 of the second period.

The Bulldogs would go on to take on Northridge and take a 54-16 drubbing at the hands of the Vikings. McDonald and Dorsett scored pins in both matches.
