FREDERICKTOWN — The Centerburg Trojans are slowly turning their season around.

The Trojans used solid defense, key hits and a dominating pitching performance by Lindsay Napes to secure a 4-1 victory over the Fredericktown Freddies in Tuesday’s Mid-Buckeye Conference softball game.

Mapes allowed just three hits and one run — which wasn’t earned — while striking out nine. At one point, she struck out five Freddies in a row. Mapes didn’t even allow a ball past the infield until the fourth inning.

“Lindsay’s been good all year. She’s just been a victim of circumstance,” said Centerburg head coach Gary Lambert. “We’ve lost five games by two runs or less. But, it’s what we’ve come to expect from her. She’s a pro’s pro. ... She has a lot of control, hitting locations and changing speeds.”
