COLUMBUS — Local teams learned their fate as the Ohio high school baseball draw unfolded in Columbus on Sunday.

Once again, the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets will host a sectional semifinal game. And their opponent, Logan, brings a feeling of deja vu. The Logan Chieftains come to town Monday for the second straight year. Last season, Mount Vernon throttled Logan, 11-0.

Should they get by Logan again, the Yellow Jackets will advance to the Division I sectional finals against Pickerington Central on the road Wednesday, May 9.

Utica and Highland will each host a Division II sectional semifinal Tuesday, May 8. The Redskins host Linden McKinley while Highland takes on Whitehall-Yearling. Both teams would play their sectional final Thursday, May 10, with Utica remaining at home and Highland hitting the road.

Fredericktown drew the No. 2 seed in the Division III Central District. Receiving a bye, the Freddies will host either Fairbanks or Mid-Buckeye Conference rival Johnstown May 10. East Knox and Centerburg have home games in the sectional semifinals May 8, with the Bulldogs taking on Madison Plains and the Trojans facing Cardington-Lincoln.

Danville, the lone Division IV representative in the area, hits the road Monday to take on fourth-seed Shekinah Christian.
