DANVILLE — The Danville Blue Devils introduced its new and improved look to the Mid-Buckeye Conference on Friday.
The Loudonville Redbirds were the first ones to get an up-close look. And they didn’t like what they saw.
Bryce Staats threw for 257 yards and the Danville defense clamped down on Loudonville’s option-style offense in a 26-15 home victory.
The Blue Devils (3-1, 1-0 MBC) switched from a triple-wing offense to a spread this season. The move definitely paid off Friday.
“We knew we could pass on this team,” said Danville head coach Ed Honabarger. “They’re pretty tough on the run. We wanted to run when we wanted to run. ... Anytime you can get a win against a team like Loudonville, we’ll definitely take it.”
