MARION — Highland’s running back tandem of Kyle Minyo and Shawn Beltz each ran for over 100 yards, and the team rushed for six touchdowns in a 42-20 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference victory at Elgin on Friday.
Minyo scored three touchdowns on the night for the Scots (2-2, 2-1), and finished with 116 yards on 21 carries. Beltz averaged more than a first down every attempt, finishing with 13 carries for 157 yards. James Cochran ran 10 times for 61 yards and two scores.
Minyo scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, and Highland led 14-7. Cochran scored both of his touchdowns in the second quarter for a 28-7 lead, but Elgin quarterback Mason Clark cut the lead to 21-13 with a 5-yard touchdown run in the waning seconds of the first half.
