As the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets and the Watkins Memorial Warriors prepared to continue their suspended game from Friday, a cold rain began to fall. The rain became a downpour, and there were fears that another storm may delay things even further.

But it didn’t happen, instead, Mount Vernon forced two turnovers and scored on a long pass play to defeat Watkins Memorial, 34-21.

When play resumed, Watkins Memorial (1-4, 1-1 Ohio Capital Conference) had the ball on fourth down at its own 33-yard line. Both head coaches knew the first few plays on Saturday would likely decide the outcome of the game.
