DELAWARE — Momentum is something that can turn at a moment’s notice, and for Highland that moment came in the first quarter of its Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference game at Buckeye Valley on Friday. The host Barons got a 70-yard run from quarterback Caleb Green, and Buckeye Valley turned in a surprising 27-7 victory.
The Barons (4-2, 4-1) outran Highland (3-3, 3-2) 198 yards to 176, but had a 6.6 yard-per-carry average to the Scots 3.8. The passing game was negligible for both squads, as each completed only three passes. The Scots threw for only six yards but a pair of interceptions, and BV gained 22 yards and was picked off once.
Highland had possession for nine minutes more than the Barons, but could only reach the end zone once. The Scots first drive of the game ended on Shawn Beltz’s 2-yard run, which left Highland up, 7-0 at the 6:13 mark of the first quarter.
