River Valley (7-2, 7-1) outgained the Scots (5-4, 5-3) on the ground, 267 yards to 157. Highland QB Josh Gahm had trouble in the wet conditions, completing only 3-of-16 passes for 49 yards and an interception. The Vikings completed only one pass for 35 yards, and both teams turned the ball over twice.

River Valley struck first with a big play, scoring on Dylan Kelley’s 72-yard run in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Later in the period, Gage Stuckman ran in from 5 yards out to increase the lead to 14-0.

The Scots had difficulty getting traction through the first half, and the Vikings added more points in the second quarter. Stuckman scored his second TD of the night, this one a 3-yarder, and River Valley led, 20-0, at halftime.

Highland’s only score came on another big play. With the ball just inside Viking territory, Kyle Minyo took off for a 48-yard TD run in the third quarter to cut the lead to 20-7.
